TasRecycle

Outline of the Organisation

TasRecycle is the Scheme Coordinator of Recycle Rewards, Tasmania’s container refund scheme where you get 10 cents for every eligible drink container returned to a Recycle Rewards refund point. As Scheme Coordinator, TasRecycle handles the financial operations, marketing and community education to maintain scheme integrity. TasRecycle is a not-for-profit entity.

Recycle Rewards aims to reduce litter and create clean streams of recycled materials that will help build Australia’s circular economy. There are 49 refund points across Tasmania, including on King and Flinders Islands.

Funded by contributions from the beverage industry, Recycle Rewards aims to increase recycling rates and reduce the litter of drink containers by up to half. Recycle Rewards will:
– Protect our natural environment by reducing litter in our parks, waterways and beaches
– Provide fundraising opportunities for individuals, charity and community groups across our state
– Bring new jobs and economic opportunities.
